Senior Pastor Roland Smith
Rev. Roland Smith began serving as Central's pastor on Easter Sunday, 1985 after having served two churches in Mississippi. He and his wife, Phyliis met while they were both students at the Univ. of Arkansas. They married in 1972 and the Lord blessed them with three children. Daughter Mollie and husband Jeremy Busler make their home in Nashville, TN where Jeremy serves as associate Minister of Music at Brentwood Baptist Church. Mollie and Jeremy are the proud parents of 2 children. Son Will and wife Julia reside in Crossville TN with their two children. Daughter Callie and husband Eric Shaver also reside in Crossville with their 2 children. Roland believes the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God and preaches it as such. He has often said that one of the real privileges of his life has been to serve as pastor at Central Baptist Church.
Associate Pastor Scott White
Rev. Scott White has been the Associate Pastor at Central since September 2002. He previously served at Central as Youth Pastor from 1987-1992. He has served as pastor at two other churches in the Crossville area. Scott is a native of Memphis TN and received his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Tennessee Temple University in 1984 and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1998 (M.A. in Biblical Studies) and the Southern Baptist Theological Serminary (M.A. in Christian Education). Scott and his wife Beth have two sons, Nathanael and Seth.
50+ Adult Pastor Billy Kemp
Rev. Billy Kemp has been on staff at Central since July 1992. He served as Central’s Youth Pastor for 15 years and moved into a new staff position in October 2007 where he now serves as Adult Pastor focusing on those 50 years of age and older. Prior to moving to Crossville, Billy attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas studying Christian Education with a youth emphasis. While attending Seminary, he served as Youth Pastor at South Wayside Baptist Church in Fort Worth for three years. Billy is a native of Nashville, TN. He attended High School (Castle Heights Military Academy) in Lebanon, TN and earned his bachelor degree in Recreation with an outdoor emphasis and minors in religion and psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. After working for a summer camp/outdoor education program for six years in Quebec, TN, Billy answered the call into Youth Ministry in 1984. He had the privilege of serving his home church, Grandview Baptist Church in Nashville, as Youth Pastor for almost four years before moving to Fort Worth. His other work experiences include serving in and managing a fast food restaurant; waiting tables; cashier for a convenience store; and working with an interior designer/antique store owner. Billy says that the Lord uses all one’s work experiences in some form when in ministry. Billy attributes his spiritual journey/growth to his maternal grandmother, whose last words were always “Jesus Loves You”; Godly aunts and uncles; his mother’s prayers; and his sister’s strength and steadfastness in raising a child with spinal bifida.
Youth Pastor Terry May & Children's Co-Director Jennifer May
Rev. Terry & his wife Jennifer have been married for 11 years and have been serving in Youth Ministry for the same amount of time. They have been blessed with two boys and two girls. They have had the privilege of serving at 3 different churches. Maranatha Baptist Church for 3yrs. in Chattanooga TN, First Baptist Church for 4yrs. in Crossville TN and now Central Baptist Church in Crossville TN for 4yrs. REAL LIFE Youth Ministries began 3yrs. ago at Central Baptist. Terry and Jennifer began praying and asking God to show them His vision for the Youth Ministry. As they prayed they knew God was leading them to show teens Real Life in Christ and for teens to abandon the unfulfilling life the world offers. REAL LIFE is a Youth Ministry designed so Teens live a life to the Full in Jesus. JN 10:10. REAL LIFE is a great place for any teen to feel right at home. Children's Co-Director Karyn Wade
Karyn Wade joined the staff of Central Baptist Church in February 2010, working with Beth White as a Co-Children's Ministry Director. Originally from Pennsylvania, Karyn and her husband, Corey moved to Crossville from Toccoa, Georgia where she earned a degree in Family & Children's Ministry from Toccoa Falls College. Karyn's passion is families and she served as the Christian Education Intern at Grace Baptist Church in Toccoa, GA. Karyn and Corey have one daughter.
Praise and Worship Leader Scott Cunningham
Scott Cunningham joined the staff at Central as interim Praise and Worship Leader in 2009 and accepted the permanent position in 2010. He attended Moody Bible Institute for one year before transferring to Bryan College where he earned a BA in Music Education and a BS in Vocal Performance. He earned his Masters degree in Choral Conducting from MTSU. Scott has served in various churches throughout the years as both a music and youth minister. In addition to his duties as Praise and Worship Leader, Scott is also an RN at Cumberland Medical Center. An accomplished musician, performer and director, Scott has been involved with the Glenn Draper and Junaluska Singers, the Tennessee Mens Chorale, and the TN Valley Theater. Scott and his wife, Darlene have one daughter, Kali.
Nursery Director Amy Miller
Amy Miller has been Central’s Nursery Director since December, 2013. Amy moved to Crossville in 1996 and she and her family joined First Baptist Church, Crossville in January, 1997. There she served in several different ministries such as VBS, Kitchen Committee Chairman, Youth Committee Member, and Preschool Committee Chairman. The nursery was her favorite and she has always had a special place in her heart for babies. Amy and her husband, Craig, have three sons; Aaron, Jeremy, and Michael.
Media Director Jacquie Mitchell
Jacquie Mitchell has served at Central Baptist Church for many years. Her official role is Part-Time Media Director since 2009 where she serves with her husband Jim (technical director) and son James (lighting designer) leading a Media team of dedicated volunteers who serve throughout the church. CBC’s Media Team is a supporting ministry of the church making sure the audio/video/lighting/communication needs are met for each service and special event. Jacquie has also served as Organist/Pianist at Central since 1995, and Coordinator of the KidsInMusicMinistry program since 2004. During July of each year, Jacquie serves with the Annie Moses Band as the Event Administrator and Assistant Director of Video at the Fine Arts Summer Academy in Nashville. She is also the Executive Director and Principal Instructor of Voice, Piano, and Kindermusik(r) at the Music Academy in Crossville. Daughter Marissa is also involved at CBC often while attending Belmont University in Nashville.
