STUDENT PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Full Time Student Pastor
Objective:
To lead our middle school and high school students to follow Jesus Christ as fully devoted disciples
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proclaim the gospel and disciple students
- Work with the church staff and student ministry leaders to carry out the overall mission of our church – to glorify God by leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Oversee, develop and coordinate the work of the student ministry
- Plan and oversee the student ministry budget
- Lead and teach students in Sunday School, Wednesday Worship, etc.
- Develop relationships with teenagers and their parents
- Lead students in reaching out to other students
- Recruit, train, encourage and support student ministry volunteer leaders
- Plan, lead, and conduct church camps trips, mission trips, etc.
- Attend workshops and personal growth conferences to stay informed on new and effective ways to implement student ministry
- Call on students and parents in pastoral need situations such as sickness, hospitalization, crisis intervention, death and other situations in which students may need help and support
- Conduct parent meetings three times a year to communicate about the student calendar, ministry needs and opportunities, parental concerns, etc.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, quarterly Church Leadership Council meetings, and yearly staff retreat
- Work as a professional with the other staff to provide for the pastoral needs of the congregation
Qualifications:
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ that pursues growth in Christlikeness
- Passion to minister to middle school and high school students
- Teachable spirit that is open to correction if necessary
- Team player who works well with others
- Five years of student ministry experience
- Christian college or seminary education preferred
- Conservative theologically (in agreement with The Baptist Faith and Message 2000) and on social issues
- Satisfactory background check and credit check
- Disciplined in use of social media platforms
