Central Baptist Church of Crossville, Tennessee, is currently seeking a full-time Worship Pastor. Our desire is to find someone who will join us in our mission to glorify God by leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

MINISTRY DESCRIPTION

The Worship Pastor at Central Baptist Church provides spiritual leadership for Central’s worship services through the gift of music and prayer, sharing the Word of God and the news of Jesus Christ through the use of song, multimedia, visual and non-visual performances, to help the congregation and community understand and experience the love of Christ and develop a strong foundation of faith. The Worship Pastor works with adult volunteers to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Central Music Ministry and the Mission Statement of Central Baptist Church: “To glorify God by leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.”

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The Worship Pastor is to be a born-again believer, acknowledging Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior, and have an ongoing personal relationship with Him. He should maintain a consistent prayer life and have a consistent daily quiet time. The Worship Pastor will agree with the doctrines found in Scripture and supported by the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is to be familiar with, continue to learn about, and be committed to the mission causes of Central Baptist Church, Cumberland Plateau Baptist Association, and the Tennessee Baptist Convention.

 

The Worship Pastor is to be trained musically; seminary education and ordination is preferred but an exceptional experience record will be considered. The Worship Pastor shall possess the administrative skills necessary to perform his duties, including the relational interpersonal skills for working with adults, students, and children of all ages within the congregation. He must be gifted in communication, instrumental (be able to lead on either piano or guitar) and vocal music. He is to be self-motivated, have a teachable spirit to grow as a person and as a leader, and be a strong team player among his fellow staff working together to strengthen all areas of the church’s ministry, having the proven ability to involve others in planning and decision-making. The Worship Pastor must submit to a thorough background check including financial/credit history; criminal – local, state, federal; drug test and personal references.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities may be accomplished directly or through volunteers working as individuals or small groups. Recruiting, training, organizing and overseeing such volunteers is an integral part of this position as it permits the efficient accomplishment of numerous tasks and duties that could not be possible for a single individual. All staff, including the Worship Pastor, are expected to have a flexible, “can do” spirit to tackle duties that are not part of their normal job description.

 

            Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Is the pastor to and performs duties specifically to those in the Music Ministry and others in the congregation (i.e., hospital visits, phone calls, visits, etc.).
  • Is under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and works in cooperation with the entire staff.
  • Meets weekly with the Senior Pastor/Staff to discuss service themes and other elements to be included within the worship services. Coordinates the Church Music Ministry with the calendar and emphases of the church.
  • Is available to counsel, arrange, provide music and attend special meetings, ministries, and other church related activities (i.e., Funerals and Weddings) in cooperation with the appropriate individuals or groups.

 

            Musical Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, plans, and provides leadership and music for Sunday morning and evening worship services as scheduled and will oversee all music ministry support volunteers.
  • Fosters a community of cooperation and excellence in all aspects of the Worship Arts Ministry. Collaborates with the Media Director and Production team on a weekly basis and for all special events.
  • Selects, arranges, and prepares songs, scripture, call to worship, prayers and coordinates relevant media for the choir and worship teams (band and vocalists) on a weekly basis.
  • Needs to be proficient in directing and conducting both choir and orchestra/praise band and in leading the congregation in song. Coordinates the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals as is necessary.
  • Prepares all materials for the choir, worship team, and instrumentalists, including sheet music and practice CDs as necessary. Will use Planning Center Online Services (PCO) to plan and schedule. Will be responsible for uploading all digital files into PCO in a timely manner for all songs – including PDFs of scores, orchestration, anthems; MP3s of audio files including demos, and rehearsal tracks; and MultiTracks for songs.
  • Be able to create tracks and upload to the Ableton Live System and will work closely with the Production team to ensure that all needed files/media are available for services and special events a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the service date and 5 months prior to any large-scale special production.
  • Should be proficient in or be willing to learn the church provided technology which currently includes the MacOS and iPhone/iPad iOS ecosystem and should be willing to learn and incorporate any new technology which may be added.
  • Practices weekly with the adult choir, handbell choir, youth choir (iSing), Kids in Music Ministry (KIMM), worship team band and vocalists. The Worship Pastor coordinates the performance schedules of music groups and individuals in the functions of the church.
  • Coordinates with the Production team for the set-up of all equipment for rehearsals and services. Any large-scale production needs to be a collaboration of the Music Ministry and the Production Team and include long-term planning sessions to coordinate resources and to create a mutual vision for the production/service.

 

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Works with the Music Team in determining music ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities, finances, and administrative processes.
  • Participates in the preparation of the church’s annual budget relative to expenditures involved in the areas of ministry that come under his supervision and sees to it that expenditures are kept within the accepted budget.
